For an urgent safeguarding concern, call +233 55 391 3254.
No one can honestly promise that, and anyone who does is selling you something. What we can do is check rigorously, show you every piece of evidence we hold, tell you plainly what each check cannot cover, and act fast when you raise a concern.
The first four are mandatory: no caregiver is shown to a family, matched, or offered work until all four are complete. The rest — police clearance, health screening, paediatric first aid — are optional, and her profile shows which she holds and when each was issued. Caregivers still in the pipeline can build a profile and see their progress, but cannot be booked.
Every caregiver applies with their work history, the ages they have cared for, the languages they speak and their availability. A HomeNest recruiter calls them before anything else happens.
The caregiver uploads their Ghana Card and takes a live selfie in the app. A reviewer compares the two by eye and checks the name and date of birth match every other document supplied.
A Ghana Police Service CID clearance certificate is obtained and reviewed. We record the certificate date and set a renewal reminder for 24 months.
We call at least two previous employers and ask every one of them the same structured questions. We also record two guarantors with verified Ghana Cards who vouch for the caregiver personally.
A basic health screening from a recognised facility, plus paediatric first aid and CPR certification. Both are refreshed annually.
Modules on child protection, age-appropriate play, nutrition and hygiene, and emergency response — followed by an assessment that must be passed at 80% or above.
Every family and caregiver has a direct line to our safeguarding team. This route is never rate limited, never behind a feature flag, and never depends on an optional messaging provider.
Report from the app, by WhatsApp, or by calling us. Anyone can report — parent, caregiver, centre staff, or a relative. You do not need to be certain, and you do not need evidence.
A named safeguarding lead, not a bot and not a queue. Serious concerns open a restricted case that only the safeguarding team can see, so the caregiver’s file is not gossip inside the company.
Depending on severity: immediate suspension of placements, an investigation, a replacement caregiver at no fee, and where required a report to the Department of Social Welfare and the Police.
If a child is in immediate danger
Placements and bookings arranged through HomeNest are covered by our liability insurance policy for the duration of the engagement. If something happens, you contact us — we handle the claim, not you.
Every nanny placement includes a trial period and a replacement guarantee. If the match is not working within that window — for any reason, including simply that the fit is wrong — we find you a replacement and you pay no second placement fee.
We would rather replace a caregiver than have a family quietly tolerate a placement that is not right for their child.
Our full child protection policy sets out our obligations in detail, including how we handle allegations against our own staff.
